A little background: I have been a teacher for 5 years now. My first year I was an acceleration teacher from k-6 in Austin. I then moved to the Dallas area and started teaching with a school district in the area. I taught third grade for three years and now I teach math to 88 fifth graders! I LOVE teaching fifth grade!!
May 2017 updated: My students took STAAR Math at the very end of April. The results came back about two weeks later. THEY DID SO SO AWESOME!! :) I was extremely proud of them and their results. They have worked very hard this year to show progress. More than half of these kids showed over one year progress in less than a year! WOW! I couldn't be more proud of them. I am so torn about it being the end of the year. I am very excited to spend the summer with family and friends, and being able to do whatever we want.. BUT I am really going to miss these kids. ALL 87 of them! I thought I would never love teaching a grade like I loved third, gosh I was so wrong. The relationships i've built with almost all of these 5th graders.. are unique and incredible. They feel so much like my own and I have had so many mama bear moments with them this year. Hands down the best year of my teaching career. My team, my kids, my room.. God has filled up cup past capacity for sure! We have play day coming up and then will be ending the year soon after that! It's going by so fast.. too quickly actually. At the end of the month my students and I will list the peeks and valleys of this year.. I will post them here and then upload tons of photos from the year i've been keeping safe on my phone. Not sure how I feel about them not being my kids next year.. prayers please! :)
